Our Commitment to Eco-Friendly Materials

At AsanaEdge, we believe in being honest about what our mats are made of — no greenwashing, no guesswork. Each mat is thoughtfully designed in the USA and crafted with trusted global partners, using natural and sustainable materials wherever possible. We’re not perfect, but we’re committed to constant improvement in reducing our impact — proving that great products can be made without harming our planet.

What We're Made Of

🌳 Natural Rubber

Our mat bases are made from natural tree rubber, a renewable material tapped from the Hevea tree. Unlike PVC or synthetic foams, natural rubber is biodegradable and provides a sturdy, cushioned foundation for practice.

  • Renewable and non-toxic
  • Free from PVC, phthalates, and heavy metals
  • Naturally grippy and supportive

✨ Eco-PU Surface (Thicker Mats)

The surface of our thicker mats is crafted from a next-generation Eco-PU. Produced under European environmental standards, this material is:

  • Non-toxic and heavy-metal free
  • Lower emissions in production compared to traditional PU
  • Recyclable in industrial systems
  • Durable: designed to last longer, reducing waste

🌱 Microfiber Suede Top (Travel Mats)

Our travel mats pair a natural rubber base with a soft microfiber suede top. Lightweight and foldable, these mats are perfect for practice on the go.

  • Provides a soft, suede-like grip
  • Printed using thermal transfer technology (no solvent inks)
  • Bonded by heat-pressing for durability

(Note: Current microfiber is virgin PET/PA; we are actively seeking a supplier using recycled PET (rPET) for future runs.)

🔧 Adhesives & Bonding

How layers come together matters. Our mats are bonded using heat-pressing and solvent-free methods wherever possible. We are working closely with suppliers to minimize or eliminate VOCs (volatile organic compounds), ensuring your practice surface is safe and low-emission.

♻️ Packaging

We ship mats in plastic-free packaging: recyclable cardboard and kraft paper only. No single-use plastics, no unnecessary fillers. Minimalist and eco-conscious.

🌍 Carbon & End of Life

  • Durability = sustainability: longer-lasting mats mean less waste.
  • Natural rubber will biodegrade over time, though mats can’t currently be recycled through curbside programs.
  • We encourage repurposing or donating retired mats — to animal shelters, for DIY padding, or as anti-slip liners.
  • We are exploring future take-back partnerships to keep mats in use longer.

✅ Certifications & Safety

Our mats are tested and certified to meet strict safety standards, including:

  • SGS & REACH compliance (no heavy metals, phthalates, or toxic chemicals)
  • RoHS safety where applicable
  • Dye/print processes free from harmful solvents

We are working toward FSC rubber sourcing and recycled content certifications for future products.
